Sweet Om Yoga studio owner & teacher, Jen, has always had a passion for movement & meaning in the body. She took dance for 17 years and her first yoga class when she was 12.
However, it was not until her first Ashtanga-inspired class 9 years ago that Jen truly found her home in yoga. It was during the savasana at the close of that class that Jen was awakened to her passion & her path. She was fortunate enough to study yoga closely with the teacher of that class for a year. She then completed her yoga teacher training in 2009 with The Yoga Sanctuary. Since that time Jen has taught yoga for Ann Green of Studio Bliss in Barrie, and run her own classes out of various centers in Bracebridge. Jen has her BA in English Literature & a BEd in the intermediate division. She has taught at secondary schools in Muskoka and Simcoe County and is a born teacher, yoga being her preferred subject to teach. She also has been certified in level one Reiki and has taken workshops on Auruveda, an ancient healing method from India. She has taken further yoga training with some incredible world renowed yoga leaders, such as Seane Corn, Nischala Joy Devi, Sadie Nardini & Yasmin Gow. Jen most recently was fortunate enough to go on a yoga retreat at Amansala Eco Chic Resort, Tulum, Mexico led by Jessica Lemon & Lisa White. Jen’s hope for everyone that comes to Sweet Om Yoga is that they find all parts of their self nourished - mind, body and spirit. Yoga is meditation in motion and by moving with the breath, we can not only find a physically rewarding practice, but a mentally quieting & spiritually uplifting one. |
